What a helpful first email looks like

Four short points are enough for us to understand the job.

  1. Name the appliance

    Oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, vacuum — whatever it is, start with that.

  2. Add the model number

    Look for the rating plate or sticker; a photo of it works just as well.

  3. Describe the fault

    What happens, when it happens, and anything you’ve noticed — noises, smells or error codes.

  4. Share how to reach you

    Let us know the best way and time to get back to you about the repair.

While you wait

A few sensible steps with a faulty appliance

  • Switch it off and unplug it if it sparks, smells of burning or trips your electrics.
  • Don’t keep running a machine that is leaking water.
  • If you are bringing in an appliance that holds water, drain it first where you safely can.
  • Keep any error code, receipt or manual you have — a photo of it is fine.
